Words are like magic.
They can transport you to new worlds and interesting places, to any time, past, present or future. They can hold you to your beliefs, or gently persuade you to change views. They can shed light to matters that prefer darkness, or bamboozle your senses away from truth. They can fill your mind with ideas and possibilities, of hopes and dreams, of all things exciting and wonderful, and they can equally destroy and tear down the value system that you hold on to so dearly. They can flood back memories and immerse you into that time of sorrow or joy, or they can be used to mask or deflect or conceal what you truly feel. They can be forceful, maybe even hurtful and damaging, and yet they can be gentle, kind, humorous and uplifting. They can be a true expression of who you are. Words can be love, if that is not magical in itself.
So, analyse words and discover their mystery. Combine and conjure them like ancient spells, wielding your pen like a wand, and master them in a way that shows off your intent and your skill. Dare to create something new and original, and be brave enough to defy the odds and leave us on the edge of our seats, breathless and wanting more.
Now that’s the power of words, that’s the illusion of the author, and that’s the magic of writing!
So very true. I like this one Grant. I have started writing well only 2 pieces since I read your blog write until it kills you. And yes after reading them over and over again the words you choose to express what you are feeling as a writer can be difficult at times yet easy as well but that is the challenge isn’t it. Looking forward to your next blog.
Hi, Annette. I am so glad that you are writing. One word at a time, that is all it takes. Thank you for reading my blog and if you need an honest review, then I am happy to give you some feedback on your work. Happy writing!
